Case Study: Building from the Ground Up

Empowering a First-Time Entrepreneur in Her 50s

Client Background

A resilient and thoughtful woman from Pakistan, the client had spent much of her adult life as a homemaker. In her 50s, she decided to step into a new chapter — one rooted in purpose, impact, and professional identity. She was training to become an ICF-certified coach and had already started coaching clients as part of her credentialing journey.

The Challenge

With limited experience in running a business, the client faced several internal and external challenges:

  • A general lack of awareness about coaching in her community

  • Economic pressures — rising inflation and concerns that people may not be willing to invest in coaching

  • Feelings of uncertainty around how to market herself and where to begin

  • The fear that the coaching industry was already saturated, especially internationally

While her goal was clear — to establish herself as a credible coach with well-paying clients — the path felt overwhelming. She hadn’t yet tried any specific strategy and was unsure how to start.

Coaching Goals

Our work together focused on helping her:

  • Develop clarity around her long-term vision and current priorities

  • Design a simple, sustainable strategy to market her services

  • Build confidence in her own value and capability as a coach

  • Take small, aligned steps toward building her business without waiting for the “perfect moment”

The Process

We began by zooming out — looking at the big picture. What kind of coaching practice did she want to build? Who did she want to serve? What would success feel like, beyond income?

Then, we worked through the practical aspects:

  • Brand clarity: Articulating what she does, who she helps, and how she helps

  • Visibility plan: Identifying platforms she felt comfortable using (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp) and options for getting support

  • Low-cost marketing: Exploring word-of-mouth, free sessions, and local webinars as powerful trust-building tools

  • Timeline alignment: Recognizing that while her ICF ACC would be completed by mid-2025, she didn’t have to wait until then to begin building presence and connections

Key Breakthrough

The pivotal shift came when she realized:

“I don’t have to wait to feel ‘ready.’ I can start showing up now, in small ways, and grow into the version of me I want to be.”

She began seeing herself as a business owner — not someday, but today.

✅ Had a clear set of next steps to increase visibility and attract clients

✅ Identified key channels (social media, word-of-mouth, webinars) and how to leverage them
