Helping a Seasoned HR Leader Return to Reading
Client Background
The client is an experienced HR professional with over 20 years in the industry. Based in India, he is currently building his own HR consulting practice. A lifelong learner at heart, reading had always been an integral part of his personal and professional growth—until it wasn’t. Somewhere along the way, amidst the busyness of work and life, the habit had slipped away.
The Challenge
Despite a strong desire to return to reading, the client felt overwhelmed. There were too many books he wanted to read, too many topics to explore. The sheer abundance of choice had created inertia. He wasn’t sure where or how to begin.
Coaching Goals
Our coaching engagement centered around one core objective:
To bring back reading as a regular, joyful, and purposeful habit in his life
This meant not just carving out time for reading, but reconnecting with the why behind it.
The Process
We used the 5 Whys technique to unpack the deeper motivation behind his goal. Through powerful questioning and reflection, we explored what reading meant to him in different phases of his life and how it had contributed to his personal evolution and professional success.
We also focused on getting clear about the desired outcome—Was the goal to read more books? To gain knowledge in specific areas? To find stillness and presence? This clarity helped the client move from a vague intention to a meaningful commitment.

Key Breakthrough
The major shift came when he recognized that reading had always been more than a habit—it was a pillar of his growth. With that insight, he stopped seeing reading as another task to fit into his schedule and started treating it as a non-negotiable part of his personal development.
The Outcome
By the end of our work together, the client:
Reconnected with the deeper purpose behind reading
Committed to bringing reading back into his daily rhythm
Felt aligned and motivated, not pressured or overwhelmed
Began to see reading as an investment in both himself and his consulting journey
What started as a goal to “read more” transformed into a powerful act of returning to oneself.
Whether you're looking to build new habits, make a bold career move, or simply find clarity—coaching can help you get there.
Let’s explore what’s possible for you.
